The Topic

Exercise has been clinically proven to improve mental wellbeing.

It's a subject that many sportsmen and women have tended to steer well clear of in the past. Thankfully, as awareness and support grows, those who are struggling with poor mental health are finally beginning to come forward. It is gradually becoming the norm for people with issues to begin to seek help from professionals, and the sports industry has the potential to be a real driving force behind this.

However, there are still athletes who may not feel like they can speak only about their battles with mental health. This has led to many household names taking their own lives over the years, as the unwanted feeling of loneliness seeped into their everyday routine. This has to be brought to an end, and if global superstars can unite behind one common goal, to bring an end to the stigma surrounding mental health, then gradually the problem may begin to change.

The aim of this project is to present the experiences of athletes and experts, to truly delve deeper into what it feels like to have to cope with poor mental health.
